You want to start off is by adding employees and services first, and then connecting employees to the respective services \u2014 that\u2019s the way to get the plugin to function properly. So let\u2019s dive into users and roles first.[\/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height=&#8221;68px&#8221;][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"qodef-h4\"><a id=\"Users-Roles\"><\/a>Users and Roles<\/h2>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]You probably already know that <a href=\"https:\/\/qodeinteractive.com\/magazine\/wordpress-user-roles\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">WordPress has different user roles<\/a> you can assign to people, giving them a variety of publishing and administrator privileges. Amelia has this, too. They\u2019re not exactly the same as with WordPress, but they follow a similar pattern. Let\u2019s take a closer look.[\/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height=&#8221;72px&#8221;][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"qodef-h5\">1. Administrator<\/h3>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]This is the highest user role there is in Amelia. It\u2019s reserved for the web administrators who are in charge of the website, and by extension the Amelia plugin. <strong>An admin can change pretty much anything in the plugin, any options \u2014 even the ones set by other users<\/strong>. The admin\u2019s power is so complete that <strong>they can change the roles of other users<\/strong>, and can <strong>customize the look of the plugin\u2019s front-end<\/strong>.[\/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height=&#8221;72px&#8221;][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"qodef-h5\">2. Amelia Manager<\/h3>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]You won\u2019t find this role in your basic WordPress installation \u2014<strong> it only appears after you install the Amelia plugin<\/strong>. It has similar authorizations as the administrator, with two notable exceptions. The manager <strong>can\u2019t customize the look of the front-end of the plugin<\/strong>, and they also <strong>can\u2019t delete anything<\/strong>. So if an event gets canceled, for example, the manager can only hide it from appearing \u2014 they cannot delete it.[\/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height=&#8221;28px&#8221;][vc_column_text]<strong>How to Create an Amelia Manager User<\/strong>[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]To add the Amelia Manager user role, you should do what you\u2019d ordinarily do when creating a regular WordPress user \u2014 go to <strong>User &gt; Add New<\/strong> and provide the necessary details. Amelia Employee<\/h3>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]This one, as its name says, is for employees. The admin or the manager needs to create a user account for each employee, as they can\u2019t do it for themselves. What they can do, after they\u2019ve been awarded an account, is <strong>access the list of appointments either through the calendar or through the appointments page<\/strong>, and <strong>export it for convenience<\/strong>. Those, at least, are the default authorizations employees get.[\/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height=&#8221;38px&#8221;][vc_column_text]<strong>Additional Authorizations<\/strong>[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]Generally, employees cannot change anything in Amelia \u2014 all they can do is view when they have appointments. But <strong>managers and administrators in Amelia can grant additional powers to employees<\/strong>. The first is the old fashioned one, where you\u2019d go <strong>Users &gt; Add New<\/strong>, provide all the relevant information, and then pick the role as Amelia Employee.[\/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height=&#8221;28px&#8221;][vc_column_text]The other way you can do it is by navigating to <strong>Amelia &gt; Employees &gt; + Add New Employee<\/strong>.[\/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height=&#8221;28px&#8221;][vc_column_text]When you first install the plugin, you won\u2019t find any users here. But there are fields where you can enter some basic info about the employees, as well as their images. You can add their shifts and their days off. Just remember: <strong>whatever you set up here only applies to the one user you\u2019re editing at the time. Amelia Customer<\/h3>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]In Amelia, <a href=\"https:\/\/wpamelia.com\/customers\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">customers get their own role<\/a>. Appropriately named \u201cAmelia Customer,\u201d <strong>this role allows your clients to have an overview of their own appointments in the backend calendar<\/strong>. They can also access the appointments list and cancel their own appointments on the list. This is what they can do by default, at least.[\/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height=&#8221;28px&#8221;][vc_column_text]<strong>Additional authorizations <\/strong>[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]If you want your customers to be able to reschedule their own appointments, you\u2019ll have to give them additional authorizations. You should check the appropriate settings in <strong>Amelie &gt; Settings &gt; Roles Settings (view role settings) &gt; Customer<\/strong>. Here, you\u2019ll get the chance to enter some information about the customers you wish to add.[\/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height=&#8221;28px&#8221;][vc_column_text]Another useful thing you can do is set up automatic adding of new customers. Navigate to<strong> Amelia &gt; Settings&gt; Roles Settings (view role settings) &gt; Customer<\/strong> and just enable the \u201cAutomatically create Amelia Customer User\u201d option.[\/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height=&#8221;28px&#8221;][vc_column_text]That way, as soon <strong>as new customers schedule an appointment on your site they automatically become a Customer User<\/strong>. They\u2019ll receive an email with their username, a link for setting their password, and a link to the booking form.[\/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height=&#8221;68px&#8221;][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"qodef-h4\"><a id=\"Amelia-Settings\"><\/a>Amelia Settings<\/h2>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]Amelia comes with a whole lot of customization options that allow you to tweak the plugin to your specific needs. By default, appointments are set at 30 minutes. That way, when people are booking services on the website, the available time slots are perfectly aligned with the ability of employees to meet them.[\/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height=&#8221;28px&#8221;][vc_column_text]<strong>Minimum time required before booking<\/strong> \u2013 this lets you set how much time in advance a customer needs to make a booking.
