Seasoned WordPress users will remember it.<br \/>\n[\/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height=&#8221;28px&#8221;][vc_column_text]Initially, <strong>the feature was called Links<\/strong>, and the name of the feature changed to <strong>Blogroll<\/strong> in 2007, from version 2.1. That name stuck only until 2008 and version 2.5, however, when it was <strong>changed back to Links<\/strong>. It is far more likely that its place in the sidebar, header or footer will be taken up by <a href=\"https:\/\/qodeinteractive.com\/magazine\/how-to-add-social-media-icons-to-wordpress-sidebar\/\">social media icons<\/a> or a different feature. Is there really a place for a blogroll on your WordPress website now?[\/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height=&#8221;28px&#8221;][vc_column_text]Well, it depends. As we\u2019ve mentioned in the introduction, you may own and operate multiple websites which cater to very different audiences, and still want to connect them. There are SEO benefits from interlinking pages (your <a href=\"https:\/\/qodeinteractive.com\/magazine\/increase-domain-authority\/\">domain authority<\/a> will grow), but that\u2019s not all: you never do know what your visitors might be interested in. Paste or type your URLs into the <strong>URL<\/strong> field, the link text in the <strong>Link Text<\/strong> field, and click the <strong>Add to Menu<\/strong> button. You can then arrange them in whichever order you want by dragging them. In our case, we will be using the <strong>Footer Top Area \u2013 Column 2<\/strong> of our <a href=\"https:\/\/qodeinteractive.com\/qi-theme\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Qi Theme<\/a>. Depending on the theme you are using, this widget area may or may not be present at all.[\/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height=&#8221;28px&#8221;][vc_column_text]Once you have selected a widget area, click the <strong>plus<\/strong> button to add a widget. And, if you have a use for a blogroll, there is a way to return it; to resurrect it, as it were, in the guise of a menu.
