What is confusing is that you actually write the footnote in the text after the word where you want the footnote to be displayed. Then you select the word or phrase you wrote and click on the <em>Add a Footnote<\/em> option. This looks a bit puzzling in the editor but perfectly fine on the frontend.[\/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height=&#8221;28px&#8221;][vc_column_text]In our example, we wanted to add the footnote that contains the word <em>\u201cGutenberg\u201d<\/em> to the text <em>\u201cfamous WordPress editor.\u201d<\/em> So we wrote and selected \u201cGutenberg\u201d right after \u201ceditor\u201d and then clicked the <em>Add a Footnote<\/em> option.[\/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height=&#8221;28px&#8221;][vc_column_text]Now, let\u2019s see, step by step, how this is actually done. Go to any page or post, write and select the text that you want to be contained in the footnote (which is \u201cGutenberg\u201d in our case) right after the word you want the footnote to refer to. It is possible to add a footnote to any text block in Gutenberg.<br \/>\n[\/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height=&#8221;68px&#8221;][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"qodef-h4\"><a id=\"creating-footnotes-in-the-classic-editor\"><\/a>Creating Footnotes in the Classic Editor<\/h2>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]Finding the Modern Footnotes button in Classic Editor is very easy. Go to your post and simply check the formatting menu above the text. You will notice the new button easily. The rest of the process is pretty much the same. You select the text that you want to be contained in the footnote and then simply click the button.
